Studentships and Funding

Research opportunities

Research is an activity many students choose to engage in during their time at medical school. While it can often be a prescribed part of your medical course, there are plenty of opportunities to independently pursue placements as well.

Often, this is best achieved by contacting researchers at local institutions and checking to see whether they have any available placements.

There are also large-scale programmes in existence run by institutions but open to all students.

Amgen Scholars Programme run by the University of Cambridge

Leeds Undergraduate Research Enterprise

Medical Research Council CSC Summer Studentship Programme

Sanger Institute Summer Research Placements

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) run by Imperial College London
